You’ve examined the pros and cons of inkjet vs laser printers. You know the functionality required, its paper handling, toner yield and maybe even a little about its noise emissions or power consumption.

But has anyone ever told you about how a simple printer can improve your business, contribute to its culture and drive profits? Probably not.

The days when printers were considered nothing more than a necessary tool, stored in office hallways and cramped printing rooms are gone. The humble printer has evolved into a productivity powerhouse, and new technology is making printers a major contributor to improved office performance and business efficiency.

SMEs: 5 Signs You Need A New Printer, Or Better Printing Solution [CUSTOMER STORY]

Posted by Michelle Rochford May 22, 2014 at 3:00 PM

Even in the age of digital technology many businesses still need to print good quality colour documents. The challenge many people face is understanding the cost v’s benefit of either upgrading, or purchasing for the first time, a printer that meets their printing needs.

If you’re in an industry that requires your customers to see colour visuals, like a marketing or advertising agency, then it’s imperative you show your customers good quality, colour printed documents. Your customers need an accurate example of what their marketing piece or advertising is going to look like when published – you can’t expect them to approve their next advertisement if the colour in the example is wrong, or it’s black and white.

Working From Home – No Need To Compromise On Print Quality

Posted by Michelle Rochford March 14, 2013 at 11:13 PM

There has been much talk in the media recently about working remotely and productivity. To avoid the wrath of the boss and raised eyebrows from colleagues, those working from home must deliver the same output as they would in their employer’s office environment.

There is a misconception that working remotely means being without the high performance, equipment typically found in a busy office. The good news is, when it comes to printers, some of the advanced features of large office devices are now packed into smaller printers which are within affordable reach of the home office worker.

  • Assess: If you’re looking for a new printer the first step is to identify your needs. Do you need high quality colour fast or will you mostly be printing large volumes in black and white? What about the ability to print double-sided (duplex) or on different sized paper or envelopes? Is an environmentally friendly solution important to you? Do you need to be able to copy, scan and fax as well? Would you like to be able to print wirelessly from your laptop, smartphone or tablet? Make a list of all the features you would like and decide on your budget.

Choosing The Right Printing Solution For The Job

Posted by Anthony Toope November 20, 2012 at 4:00 AM

Printing requirements vary from business to business and choosing the correct printing solution can save money and increase productivity.

Office managers looking for a new printer first need to identify what the need is – whether it is high speed colour printing, high volume black and white (monochrome) printing, advanced media handling capabilities, finishing options, sophisticated security options, an environmentally friendly printing solution, or all of the above.

Earlier this year, we launched a range of monochrome single and multi function printers which are ideal for both home offices and small businesses. We recently added another printer to this range, the DocuPrint P455 d, which is an A4 monochrome laser printer offering high speed black and white printing of up to 45 pages per minute.

While black and white printing might not seem very exciting, monochrome represents three out of every four purchases in the single function market and demand for monochrome devices continues to grow. This makes sense when you consider that many business users often have no colour printing requirements.

The Best Of Times…The Age Of Wisdom

Posted by Anthony Toope May 30, 2012 at 12:34 AM

‘It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness...’ Surely, Charles Dickens in A Tale of Two Cities was not talking about the printer market, or was he?

Best of times......this is true for our business customers as printers and multifunction printers (MFPs) have never been more affordable. Price erosion in the last year has averaged 15 per cent. In fact in New Zealand the mono MFP segment hit a 31 per cent price decline. Just like the low prices we see for LCD TVs and computers, printers and MFDs represent tremendous value. A high speed 23ppm copy print scan fax colour machine can be easily picked up for under $1000 – a massive price reduction compared to only a couple of years ago!

The age of wisdom.....price erosion places enormous pressure on vendors as we work to improve production efficiencies and reduce costs. At Fuji Xerox Printers our approach is to embrace the change, creating a connection between our channel partners and their end customers and rapidly driving new products into mid market. This is a positive opportunity for our partners and our customers and can drive significant growth in mid to high end segments. In fact, forecasts for the coming year predict the value segment to grow between 20 per cent and 120 per cent.
